The Coupe Jules Rimet, predecessor of today’s FIFA World Cup, was the trophy of the World Cup from 1930 to 1970. The association whose selection won the cup three times, that was the rule, could keep it.

1930 Uruguay
1934 Italy
1938 Italy
1950 Uruguay
1954 BR Germany
1958 Brazil
1962 Brazil
1966 England
1970 Brazil

With the third World Cup win by a Brazilian national team in 1970, the trophy therefore became the property of the Brazilian Football Association. It was stolen from a display case in Rio de Janeiro on 19 December 1983.

Our mission is to travel back to 1983 to solve the mystery of the theft of the Jules Rimet Cup. Was the statue, weighing 3.8 kg of gold-plated sterling silver, melted down and sold, as is claimed? A true incident! Special knowledge about the history of Brazilian football is not necessary to clarify the case, but it certainly makes it more interesting. Because there are some things worth seeing to discover at the scene of the crime.

Since our booking coincidentally coincides with the 6th anniversary of another memorable event, we naturally did not miss the opportunity to remind our nice Brazilian hosts of the recent football history. The FIFA World Cup theft of the German national team on 8 July 2014 by the legendary 7-1 victory in Belo Horizonte’s Mineirão. I wonder if these players would also have been given a place in the Hall of Fame at the clubhouse.

After THE MISTERY OF DOS SANTOS our second visit to BH Escape. The confederation’s rooms in 1983 might have looked like this. Cups and pictures of national heroes like Pelé remind us of glorious times. The game, which has a mix of props and different types of padlocks, is played with zoom and a telescape inventory, which rings as soon as new items are added. The puzzles are logical and thematic. Not only Brazilian football fans will enjoy this game. Our hosts guided us confidently through our game session. Thanks for having us!
