Prison Experience is a new provider in the heart of Barcelona who offers immersive 75-minute experiences with professional actors within a 500 square meter prison. You can choose between three different jail scenarios.

* THE COLD SHOWER
* THE END OF THE TUNNEL
* THE TAKEOVER

All groups start at the same time (there were three of us) and have to endure the mandatory detention procedure. The full program! Submission of personal belongings, receipt of orange prison clothes, police photo, fingerprints, line up (14 prisoners), and, in an authoritarian speech, the explanation of the prison rules. The closers (there were 5 or 6) do a serious job and, of course, make it clear from the start who is in charge. Jokes and cheeky comments should be avoided so as not to fall immediately out of favor.

After that, the guard brings us to our cell wing, and we can start making an outbreak plan. What makes Cold Shower different from the usual prison escape games are the role play elements. A lot must be improvised and interacted with prison staff and inmates. That was cool, and we had fun because it sometimes leads to strange and unexpected scenes. Bribery, smuggling, theft, corruption – hey, what the heck? We are already in jail.

As far as the puzzle part is concerned, this escape game differs very little from other breakout scenarios. Nothing unusual that would not have seen anywhere in a similar form. But overall it was an interesting experience. It was fun to interact with the different characters we encountered throughout the game.

There were three of us playing and in my opinion that’s a good group size (maximum four).
